I love these sorts of emails.

I also got one the other day that claimed to be from Time Warner Cable. They wanted me to update my payment method. The email appeared to be from TWC™ Roadrunner Billing Services, and the return address was billing@billing.rr.com. But when you expand the subject it indicates that it was actually sent from cole.anderson2@tesco.net. I’m not sure why Time Warner contracted Cole Anderson to collect their payment data, but I’m sending my credit card information right away.

I’m amazed people are still sending these kinds of emails, but at the same time I’m terrified that’s because they still work....

I keep getting voicemails from out of state numbers telling me there is a warrant out for my arrest and that I need to call them to clear everything up. I wish that’s how the legal system actually worked.

Indeed the crappiness is considered a feature. It lets scammers weed out people who are only sort of dumb, as opposed to extremely dumb. If you respond to that message, you are almost certainly a huge sucker.

My wife has had a POP email account for years, and I spent the weekend cleaning out more than 7,000 emails. And switching her to IMAP.

This is going back a ways and on a tangent a long ways... but that really reminds me of reading Thomas the Tank Engine books where they would capitalize “Really Useful Engine”. I mean, looking back they were correct because it was kind of a title, but it always seemed funny

I once got a call on my answering machine from a man with a very thick foreign accent claiming to be Detective John Marshall calling about a warrant for my arrest. I received a robocall this am from a previously blocked number. The message said that Canada Revenue Agency was filing a lawsuit against us and we should call right away.

I’ve called their call center approximately 20 times this am and have had great fun with the Indian gentleman who answers the phone. You’d be surprised at the profanity which comes out of government employees mouths, especially when you bring up Pakistan, fingerbanging various Gurus, handjobs from Ganesh, etc.

I went at it with a telemarketer once, and they actually called me back to continue the abuse. The guy said that he had called to have hookers sent to my house (sadly, they never showed up). I finally had to unplug my phone because he kept calling back.

George Carlin narrated the early Thomas videos. Some wag has dubbed over some of the dialog with passages from Carlin’s books on tape. So, there is extensive profanity. We grew up with Thomas, so hearing Carlin’s vulgarities pasted overtop is pretty funny, but if that sort of stuff turns you off, then best not to listen.
